Emily Smith Brown, soprano,earned her Bachelor of Music Degree at Eastern Oregon University in 2015 with an emphasis in Vocal Pedagogy and Performance and a Minor in Theatre Arts. Originally from Juneau, Alaska, Emily has been teaching private voice and piano lessons to students of all ages since 2011. She has been performing all her life with several community and collegiate companies and ensembles, and has portrayed both operatic and musical theatre roles. Her most notable roles have been Musetta in Puccini’sLa Boheme(Juneau Lyric Opera), Johanna inSweeney Todd(Juneau Symphony), Lily inThe Secret Gardenand Fantine inLes Miserables(both at EOU). Emily recently made her debut with the Mid-Columbia Musical Theater Company as the title role inMary Poppins(2015) and Kathy in Steven Sondheim’s Company (2016).

Emily teaches both classical and contemporary vocal techniques in a variety of styles and genres. Lessons are catered to each individual student’s comfort zone and goals. Piano and voice students alike learn basic music theory, establish healthy practice habits, and gain overall confidence in their abilities through study and performance. Emily teaches all ages, Youth-Teen-Adult. Emily is thrilled to join the Magnolia Music Studio as a Voice/Piano/Traveling Teacher.

Emily has openings for new voice and piano students for Summer Flex Session in-studio, beginning in June. She is also available as a Traveling Teacher, teaching in student’s homes.
