Cody Laun, tenor, recently returned to his home state of Colorado after completing doctoral studies at The University of Mississippi, where he taught voice lessons to university and community members. He also directed opera scenes and coached German and Italian diction for singers. Cody Laun completed a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from The University of Florida in 2012 and is a proud alumni of Colorado State University (Bachelor of Music-Vocal Performance, 2010.) 2015-2016 Cody Laun was Visiting Professor of Voice and Coordinator of Freshman Voice Studio at Colorado State University.
At Magnolia Music Studio, Cody Laun welcomes teen and adult students of all backgrounds and levels of musical experience. His previous students have been hired by regional musical theater companies, advanced at vocal competitions, and have been accepted into top colleges and graduate programs. Cody Laun has been characterized as a tenor whose voice is "powerful… beautiful, free, and lyric” -- Elizabeth Blades, author of A Spectrum of Voices. A frequent soloist along the Front Range, Cody Laun has been featured with such groups as the CSU Chamber Choir and Symphony Orchestra, Fort Collins Chamber Orchestra, Fort Collins Symphony, and is an innaugural member of the professional Colorado Bach Ensemble. He has been a winner of Metropolitan Opera National Council auditions (Arkansas), a finalist in the 2014 Palmai-Tenser competition, and winner of NATS chapter and regional auditions. Cody Laun was an Apprentice Artist with Des Moines Metro Opera, and has performed with Natchez Festival of Music, and Emerald City Opera.
Cody Laun’s teaching philosophy is centered around joyful musical creation, healthy sound production, and physical/emotional empathy. His performance experience enables him to coach and teach across a wide variety of styles and genres.
